The Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) of Lupon has been recognized by the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) for its exemplary contribution in preventive and control strategies in combating the drug problem in the Province of Davao Oriental.
Mayor Erlinda D. Lim thanked PADAC for citing MADAC-Lupon as a best practice worth replicating in the nationwide campaign against illegal drugs.
The PADAC Action Officer Art Benjie Bulaong said that the Provincial Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang has committed to sustain its support for the Community-Based Rehabilation and Aftercare Program (CBRAP) of the municipality.
This was announced during the monthly regular meeting of the MADAC this morning attended by all Punong Barangays and MADAC Members.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Administrator/PADAC Action Officer turned over 500 drug testing kits for the effective implementation of the whole duration in the first batch of the program which will end this April.
The 6-month rehabilitation project which had an initial 968 enrolees started in October, involved in community-based program for drug dependents.
Group works, team building activities, random drug testing, and reflection sessions were conducted that helped the enrolees realize the importance of doing away with illegal drugs.
Lupon had 1,297 drug reformists at the start of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s term and war against illegal drugs.
After completing the community-based rehabilitation program, the drug recovering patient shall undergo the aftercare program. In this phase, they shall undergo programs which will help them be reintegrated back to their communities as productive members.
