The Municipal Government of Lupon has been a recipient of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2016.
SGLG is the conferment of a Seal to Local Government Units (LGUs) that adheres to performance criteria on the following areas: financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and peace and order.
As a reward to the local government’s efforts of sustaining transparency on good governance to the public of Lupon, DILG recognized the performance of the municipal government thru the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), an incentive fund given to qualified LGUs whose programs and projects are aligned with the national development goals and priorities.
In CY-2016, the municipal government received a cash reward intended to provide public infrastructure development programs. The cash reward was utilized accordingly to fund the renovation of the Public Market.
Lupon Public Market will soon get a makeover to give the Municipality of Lupon a more organized and customer-friendly public market.
Mayor Erlinda D. Lim recently consulted vendors of the market on the plan and it was agreed that renovation work will start in February 2017.
Mayor Lim, accompanied by Municipal Engineer Bernard M. Braga and Market In-charge Benjamin B. Pacetes, Jr., conducted an ocular inspection on the market to determine the needed repairs and improvements.
Stallholders were adversely affected by the renovation of the old public market. They are now temporarily selling their products in side streets a few meters from the site and will be back on their respective stalls once the renovation is done. (Photos: Bobcat)
