The Municipal Employees Association of Lupon (MEAL) joined the clean-up drive as part of the National Clean-up Day program, with the theme, “Bayan Ko, Linis Ko!” together with the Lupon Water District and the 28IB Philippine Army.
Mayor Erlinda D. Lim has issued a memorandum earlier enjoining all LGU employees to take part in the activity, with assembly time at 6:00 a.m. at the Municipal Flagpole area.
Proclamation No. 244 series of 1993 declares every September as the National Clean-up Month, and Sept. 17 to 23 as the World Clean and Green Week.
The clean-up drive is undertaken not only to commemorate Earth Day but also as opportunity for employees to volunteer for the community and environmental initiatives of the local government.
“We need to stand together in keeping our municipality clean, which will, in turn provide a better living environment for us Luponians.” said Mayor Lim.
This clean-up drive was organized by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) in cooperation with the Human Resources and Management Office by this Local Government Unit of Lupon.
