The Local Government Unit of Lupon strongly supports the nationwide campaign against illegal drugs.
Being one among those active partners of the Government’s Campaign towards reducing numerous drug-related cases, the Municipality of Lupon launched the “Lupon Kontra Ilegal na Droga Program” dubbed as Lupon KID Tayo! together with all the Barangay Officials of the 21 Barangays.
The launching was facilitated by the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the Lupon Municipal Police Station headed by PCI Bembo L Aying in partnership with the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council represented by PADAC Action Officer Art Benjie Bulaong, also present is the MLGOO Julia A. Masongsong of the DILG, IA3 Rey D. Pavillar of PDEA, Mayor Erlinda D. Lim, Hon. Edna B. Bote, and Liga President Clemente I. Gera Jr.
Drug-Testing were also conducted during the launching to all Barangay Officials to pledge their full support to the Lupon KID Tayo! Program, from the demand reduction strategy through advocacy and education campaign, to the demand and supply reduction through information gathering and reporting, up to the community-based rehabilitation program.
Mayor Lim said, there is a need to strengthen the implementation of the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program and the Community-Based Rehabilitation and After Care Program which can only be achieved thru our involvement and participation for the good of our constituents.
It was here that the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) were recognized to play an important role in the Republic Act 9165 also known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” and at the same time involved Barangay Officials in the fight against illegal drugs.
