TAGUM, Philippines – About 14,000 young athletes representing approximately 300 Local Government Units (LGUs) will converge at the Davao del Norte Sports & Tourism Complex, Sunday, November 26, for the opening of the national finals of the Batang Pinoy 2016 DavNor.

Lupon Mayor Erlinda D. Lim has encouraged the athletes of the municipality to show their best in their respective sports event in the 2016 Batang Pinoy National Championships.

Lim made the encouragement as she released financial aid to the 108 delegation, including 21 coaches, to the week-long athletic competition.

The Mayor challenged them to show their best and to bring honors to the municipality.

The Lupon athletes will compete in eight sporting events including Athletics, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Arnis, Chess, Badminton, Softball and Volleyball who will be competing in the Batang Pinoy National Championships on November 27 to December 3, 2016 at Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.

Batang Pinoy or the Philippine Youth Games is the Philippine Sports Commission’s annual national competition program for children ages 17 years old and below.

This program is conducted in partnership with the Philippine Olympic Committee, Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Education.
