Over 600 rural folks of Barangay San Jose, Lupon, Davao Oriental now enjoy a steady supply of clean water following completion of a Potable Water System (Level-II) project under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program of the government.

Potable water seemed to be a precious needs in this small community long before, this is one of the reasons why community members headed by Punong Barangay Julito Antiga has identified and validated the construction of the water system.

“KALAHI-CIDSS will make their lives easier and healthier,” Mayor Erlinda D. Lim said during the inauguration on January 15, 2018 at the project site.

Aside from the water system, there is a Pre-School Building project at Barangay Mahayahay also inaugurated on that same day.

Now, not only residents of Barangay San Jose enjoy the safe drinking water, but also other barangays that has been a recipient from the previous cycle project of the Kalahi-CIDDS program to the Municipality of Lupon.

Kalahi-CIDSS is a community-driven development program in the Philippines which pushes for the active involvement of local communities in the design and implementation of development projects to address the issue of poverty in the country.
