The Municipal Government of Lupon has formed the Municipal Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Coordinating Committee to sustain the integrated delivery of programs for children and to promote the optimum growth and development of young children in the community.
The National Child Development Center along K. Baratua Street (going to Lupon Sports Oval), handled by a Care and Development Teacher Ms. Rubie Ann Bautista, caters the interest of young children ages zero to four years and develops in them the love for learning.
NCDC will serve as a resource facility that will serve as laboratory of the different modes of delivery of center-based and/or home-based ECCD programs that refer to the full range of health, nutrition, early education and social services development programs that provide for the basic holistic needs of young children.
The ECCD Council, which had a memorandum of agreement with the Municipal Government of Lupon is tasked to institutionalize a comprehensive, integrative and sustainable early childhood care development system involving multi-sectoral and inter-agency collaboration at the national and local levels under Republic Act No. 10410 or the Early Years Act of 2013.
Mrs. Cirila B. Cobero – MSWD Officer, thanked ECCD Council and Mrs. Sarah Gudes – Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer for choosing Lupon to be the place for the first national child development center in the Province of Davao Oriental.
On the other hand, Mrs. Gudes said “It is our privilege to be a part of the project and we bring it here in Lupon, the NCDC, the first in Davao Oriental. Also part of the project is the training for pre-school teachers to prepare them in handling children as well as parents.”
