Eight hundred seventy-seven (877) drug reformists completed the requirements of Lupon Kontra Ilegal na Droga (Lupon KID) Program. The graduation ceremony has been conducted for the former drug dependents who have successfully completed their six months rehabilitation sessions and activities under the Lupon’s Community-Based Rehabilitation and Aftercare Program. Drug reformists received their certificate of completion during their graduation held at Lupon Gym on March 31, 2018.

The graduates was presented by Mayor Erlinda D. Lim, Chairperson of the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council, declared by IA3 Rey Pavillar of the PDEA-Davao Oriental and was witnessed by the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police Director General Ronald “Bato” M Dela Rosa introduced by Councilor Santos Q. Alonzo, Jr. “Maswerte kayo dito sa Lupon dahil yung mga ibang munisipyo ay di pa nakapagconduct ng localized drug rehabilitation program. Dahil dito (community-based rehabilitation program) ay graduate na yung mga Tokhang surrenderers,” said PNP Chief Dela Rosa.

The 877 drug reformists who graduated from the program went through different activities and sessions from October 2017 – March 2018. The participants have undergone Drug Testing, sharing of experiences, sports activities, religious inputs and community service as part of the process.

The graduation was also graced with the presence of other distinguished guests to witness the first batch of Lupon KID, namely: the Provincial Administrator Art Benjie Bulaong; PCSUPT Manuel Gaerlan, Regional Director PNP-XI; PSSUPT Harry Espela, Provincial Director PNP-Davao Oriental; Dra. Caridad Matalam, DOH-XI Representative; Congressman Joel Mayo Z. Almario; PNP and AFP Officials, SB members, Barangay Officials and the MADAC Team.

The community-based rehabilitation and aftercare program of Lupon serves as an inspiration and a replicable program for other local government units as said by PADAC Action Officer Art Benjie Bulaong.

After the graduation D/GEN DELA ROSA immediately proceed to the newly completed Lupon Municipal Police Station at Barangay Bagumbayan for the official turn-over of the building to the Municipal Mayor Erlinda D. Lim. The PNP Chief enjoy his lunch together with all the officials and guests present in a boodle fight.
